Ever watched Riverdale and wanted some vintage IG-worthy photos as cool as theirs? Drop by at the Filling Station Bar and Cafe in Makati located at Poblacion for your aesthetic needs!

Fill your neon thirst in this retro bar and cafe

For my friends and I, we have traveled all the way from Quezon City just to have a taste of what it’s like to be a Riverdale character for the night.

Its red and purple hues glinting off the polished surfaces; the varying bright hues – not hard on the eyes, the multi-colored lights enchanting the mesmerized customers’ eyes.

With a replica of a blue vintage car in the middle, numerous people get their photos taken with it along with all the other art installations you can spot inside.

The place boasts of various retro classic stuff from the upholstered vintage car chairs, the big comfy and cozy red booths, the vibrant posters the antique-looking bars and pool table, to the old traditional telephone and television sets; which makes one nostalgic of the past.

It has the entire look of an old-fashioned American retro diner but without the dingy, damp, and moldy interior of a neglected outdated food establishment. Nope, not the shabby and tacky kind.

While flaunting refurbished classic pieces such as the displayed tall grandfather clocks, there were also modern and edgy art installments added to the mix such as big buff motorcycles and car plate numbers.

The different ornaments and trinkets is surely an appreciated novel to anyone which makes it appealing to patrons of all kinds and guests of all ages: a big family, a group of friends, university students, co-workers all coming into one place enticed by its unique allure.

True to its name, they serve a lot of scrumptious dishes that’s sure to fill you up in no time!

They have big heavy breakfast meals with American food such as eggs, waffles, bacon, sausages, toasts, pancakes, and omelette; they also serve Filipino breakfasts such as beef tapa, daing na bangus, adobo flakes, corned beef, pork tocino, pork longganisa, all served with the staple garlic rice and eggs. They also serve their breakfast menu all day!

But if you’re craving for finger foods, they have buffalo wings, calamari, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, shanghai rolls, potato skins, garlic shrimp, cheese sticks, chilli poppers, fries, onion rings, and tacos.

They also have pies and pasta for something heavy, and soup and salad for something light.

Fill your neon thirst in this retro bar and cafe

We ordered the Four for All group meal which costs P475 and includes wings, shanghai rolls, potato skins, and fried calamari with the blue cheese, sweet and sour dips, and barbeque sauce.

The spicyness of the wings and the tanginess of the blue cheese were a great pleasure for the tongue as they balanced the meals together. The calamari has that fried salty homemade taste, luscious when paired with the sweet and sour dip.

The crispyness of both the shanghai rolls and the potato skins, both overloading the senses with its rich and tasty stuffing; and the Cheese Burger pizza, with the appetizing patties, crispy bacon, and thousand island dressing; delectably good and soft, fresh from the oven.

We also had their creamy chocolate and vanilla milkshakes for P295 and their iced café mocha with fresh whipped cream on top for P180.

Fill your neon thirst in this retro bar and cafe

Which is why if you’re craving for something sweet, go for their creamy milkshakes, fruit smoothies and juices, Coke and root beer floats, milk – plain or chocolate, hot or cold; or tea and coffee such as americano, cappuccino, latte, mocha for something relaxing – served iced or hot.

They also provide booze in their bar menu such as beer, vodka, rum, scotch, whiskey, brandy, tequila, gin, champagne, and assorted cocktails. They have happy hour discounts from 3pm to 7pm.

Their prices are higher than your average grub but they don’t disappoint with both the quality and the quantity of their servings but if you want to update your IG with those gorgeous neon photos, then it’s worth it!
