The Laguna segment of the P35.4-billion Cavite Laguna Expressway [CALAX] is set to be opened to motorists by the fourth quarter of the year, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways and MP Cala Holding Inc.
“This first three sections, from Mamplasan to Sta. Rosa, when opened will spur growth in trade and tourism in Laguna and Cavite,” said Public Works Secretary Mark Villar, who inspected the project’s development on Tuesday.

He said that about 10,000 cars were expected to use these sections.
“The opening of these sections should ease traffic along Governor’s Drive, Aguinaldo Highway, and Sta. Rosa-Tagaytay Road,” said Villar.
The first segment starts at the Mamplasan Barrier and passes through Laguna Technopark Interchange, Laguna Boulevard Interchange all the way to Santa Rosa-Tagaytay Interchange.
The construction of the Cavite side is expected to be completed by 2022. It comprises 27 kilometers of the 45-kilometer Cavite-Laguna Expressway.
