The Quezon City Department of Building Official reported a 130-percent increase in permits processed to 1,696 from July 2021 to June 2022 from 737 permits a year ago.
DBO officer in charge Mark Dale Perral said the Anti-Red Tape Authority was instrumental in the success of their building permitting system.
“Before a building permit is issued, it will be evaluated, analyzed and examined by different offices, both local and national. All these intricacies in government regulations, particularly in building regulations, would not have been streamlined without the aid and guidance of ARTA,” he said.
Permit automation raised the DBO’s income by 11.9 percent to P306.5 million from P274 million, based on the official report released during the DBO Summit.
The DBO credited the faster permit processing to ARTA’s Joint Memorandum Circular No. 1 Series of 2021 or the guidelines in the processing of construction-related permits.
ARTA officer-in-charge Ernesto Perez said the JMC promotes ease of doing business by streamlining government processes through standardizing the processing of building permit applications and certificates of occupancy, reducing steps and processing time in securing permits.
“This issuance is very significant to the government in ensuring bureaucratic efficiency, which is a top priority of the Marcos administration,” he said.
ARTA also recognized the efforts of the city in furthering its services by improving its permitting system.
“Quezon City is consistent in its efforts to streamline and digitalize their processes to further improve their services. It has made transactions with the government more convenient for their clients, which truly embodies the ease of doing business,” Perez said.
