AC Health, the healthcare arm of Ayala Corp., on Thursday broke ground on a P2-billion cancer hospital in Taguig City.
AC Health said in a statement the 100-bed Healthway Cancer Care Center would offer a complete range of services aimed at providing Filipinos with affordable and quality cancer care.
Set for completion by July 2023, Healthway Cancer Care Center will be the country’s first comprehensive, dedicated cancer hospital offering a complete range of cancer services from screening, diagnosis, treatment to post-cancer care.
AC Health earlier teamed up with Varian-CTSI to develop and operate the planned hospital. Varian-CTSI is a leading oncology services provider that has supported the delivery of safe, quality, and affordable cancer care worldwide for nearly two decades. It provides clinical services and solutions to over 100 hospitals, clinics and physician groups around the world with a focus on multidisciplinary oncology care
“Cancer is a critical public health problem with an enormous impact on patients, the families and the healthcare system at large. There is an urgent need to develop sustainable solutions. We need to increase awareness of the disease through patient education, improve the timeliness of diagnosis through rigorous screening programs, and minimize out-of-pocket cancer expenses through affordable cancer care,” said AC Health chairman Fernando Zobel de Ayala.
The addition of Healthway Cancer Care Center expands AC Health’s portfolio alongside Healthway Clinics, Qualimed Hospitals, Generika Drugstores, IE Medica and MedEthix and the HealthNow mobile app.
The planned hospital in FTI Complex is near Ayala Land’s Arca South development, which is being developed as the next mixed-use commercial, residential and transportation hub.
Its central location provides easy accessibility for residents of the Greater Metro Manila Areaand for patients flying in from the provinces, owing to its proximity to the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Ayala group together with AC Health also turned over 1,000 doses of flu vaccines to Taguig City during the ceremony. The flu vaccine will serve to protect Taguig’s constituents against the infectious disease and its possible complications as the country focuses on beating COVID-19.
