Global animal nutrition company ADM announced Tuesday the acquisition of a feed mill in Polomolok, South Cotabato from South Sunrays Milling Corp.
The Illinois-based firm said it is diversifying by opening a wide range of leading-edge products to meet the demand for innovative and high-quality items in the animal nutrition market.
“Around the globe, ADM is expanding its ability to meet growing customer demand for high-quality, responsibly-produced animal nutrition products, and we look forward to bringing our expertise and production capabilities closer to even more customers in the Philippines,” said ADM Asia Pacific president Gerald Wilflingseder.
He said the acquisition would add to the company’s regional production capacity, “enabling us to enhance our wide range of leading-edge solutions to better support our customers’ dynamic needs in a timely manner, while providing further opportunities to offer new product solutions in the Philippines and across the region.”
The South Cotabato mill, along with ADM feed production facilities in Cebu and Bulacan, are expected to support increasing demand for pet food, complete feed, aquaculture and premix solutions, he said.
The investments will also support economic development through the creation of more than 100 new jobs, the company said.
“We are excited to combine our global expertise with deep local insights to unlock greater value for our customers in the Philippines and across the region,” said ADM managing director for animal nutrition Lorenzo Mapua.
He said the acquisition would allow the company to offer a wide range of high-quality feed products for swine, poultry and aqua for both backyard and commercial farm segments with company Ultrapak, Evialis and Ocialis.
SSMC established a feeds manufacturing business in 2017 and started a feeds tolling business in South Cotabato.
Its first client, Biotech Farms Inc., is the leading hog and poultry raiser in Mindanao, supplying the farm’s monthly feeds requirement of 5,000 metric tons.
After three years, SSMC expanded to its second feed mill to produce quality feeds for aqua, pet foods and extruded raw materials like full-fat soya and other raw materials.
