For years, Marvel has told the fantastic stories of superheroes not just through comics and films, but also through various forms of art. As the mighty God of Thunder comes back on the big screen in Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, Walt Disney Studios Philippines unveils a massive mural in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Jappy Agoncillo is a huge fan of Thor, making the experience more worthwhile

The mural features Thor and Mighty Thor side by side in their most powerful form, ready for battle. The art fancies lightning strikes and vibrant colors that resemble the energetic vibe of the movie. When scanned, an augmented reality version of the mural is unveiled allowing fans to interact with the art through their mobile devices.

“This mural is a way for us to celebrate the Filipinos’ love for the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” said Allie Benedicto, Studio Marketing Head of Disney Philippines. “We wanted to create something that allows our fans to connect with the beloved characters from Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder, thus this massive and striking mural located right at the heart of urban Manila,” she added.

The mural was made by 27-year-old mural artist Jappy Agoncillo, who was raised in the arms of television, comic books, fantasy stories, and other lively elements of pop culture. His influences are largely seen in his works today as one can walk around Metro Manila and pass by his colorful artworks in bars, restaurants, and other establishments.

“I am a huge fan of Thor! This project was a great experience for me because I got to design something that is close to my heart, and in a style that is also personal to me. I’m delighted to bring these beloved superhero characters to life for every Filipino Marvel fan to see,” Agoncillo said.

Thor: Love and Thunder mural is located at Central Square 1 in Bonifacio Global City. The augmented reality experience is brought to life in partnership with Globe Telecom.
