The best place for a staycation in Manila…is the hotel that assigns all its rooms to it

Life has been a rollercoaster the past couple of months. We go up (vaccines are arriving in the Philippines), and we go straight down, as in really down (Delta cases increase; lockdown looms).

The best place for a staycation in Manila...is the hotel that assigns all its rooms to it
FOR STAYCATION ONLY. Hilton Manila—the only 100 percent staycation hotel within Resort World Manila recognized by the Department of Tourism—assures leisure guests of safety with heightened sanitation protocols implemented within the property.

For a person who has been down several times most of the time, that brief moment up is precious. So when restrictions eased, establishments opened and reopened, and vaccine rollout picked up, many Filipinos booked their tickets to domestic destinations or to the nearest hotels.

Hilton Manila early in July took advantage of the increase in travel confidence by launching a staycation promotion that promises “worry-free stays”.

“Staycay 2.0 Your Way” is designed for families eager to spend time out of their homes and in a guaranteed safe space with all the trimmings “highlighted by an overnight stay, exceptional culinary offerings at the hotel’s Kusina Sea Kitchen (dinner and breakfast) and Hua Yuan (lunch)”, welcome drinks, and custom-made pajama sets guests can take home after their stay.

Premium upgrades, according to Hilton Manila commercial director Joanne Gomez, include pizza-making activity for kids, three-hour use of Vega poolside cabanas, in-room cocktails, and Polaroid camera rental.

“Our team has carefully designed an enjoyable staycation experience for the family as we value the importance of bonding and connecting especially during these trying times and what we have all been through in the last few months,” said general manager Simon McGrath.

“Staycay 2.0” is part of the Resort World Manila (RWM) 2.0 property-wide initiative to further level up customer service and overall customer experience.

How come Hilton Manila got to launch the promo?

The Staycay 2.0 packages include overnight stay, pool access, breakfast and dinner (above) at Kusina Sea Kitchen, and lunch at Hua Yuan.

Because it is currently the only 100 percent staycation hotel in the whole RWM complex recognized by the Department of Tourism. Others operate at 50-50, staycation and quarantine facility.

“When we made the decision to transition from an isolation facility to a staycation hotel, we had to go through very rigorous process to show the Department of Health and the Department of Tourism that we adhere to stringent protocols,” McGrath related.

“We vacated the rooms, heavily sanitized them, then we reopened to staycation market to look after people who want to get out and enjoy themselves.”

In addition to following government-mandated protocols, the hotel further assures guests with Hilton CleanStay, a heightened hygiene and cleanliness standard powered by Lysol, “a brand”, McGrath said, “everybody knows in regards to disinfectant”.

A CleanStay seal is attached to the room’s door.

The general manager added that 90 percent of Hilton Manila staff are fully vaccinated.

Staycay 2.0 packages start at P20,000 nett (deluxe) and P30,000 nett (premium). The promo is available until December.
