“I think the discomfort that some people feel in going to the monkey cages at the zoo is a warning sign.”

– Carl Sagan

Ambitious, wise and successful but also shrewd, egotistic, and vain – these are the said traits of people born on the Year of the Monkey (1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016, 2028).

Expect the lunar year of 2016 (February 8, 2016 to January 27, 2017) then to be full of challenges, success, clashes, and politics, whether in the workplace or at home.

“The monkey always finds its way out of tight situations,” says international feng shui master Marites Allen. “If there are two things we should learn from this year’s ruling animal, it is that we should be alert and dare to be different.”

Marites Allen with co-host Boy Abunda at the Philippine Feng Shui Convention last January 3 at Marco Polo Manila

Here are Allen’s forecasts for each astrological sign for the Year of the Fire Monkey:

People born on the Year of the Rat (1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996, 2008)

General outlook: Whatever you failed to accomplish in 2015 will finally be accomplished this year; (but) be wary about getting betrayed and robbed. Listen to what your gut says about people and situations. Instincts are almost always right.

Love: Singles should actively go out and meet others. Couples who have been together long-term can consider marriage.

Money: The potential for both earnings and losses are high. Be careful about lending and investing your money.

People born on the Year of the Ox (1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009)

General outlook: Be prepared to face challenges that will test your determination and commitment. A lot of factors will make you want to give up something you have long been dreaming about. Don’t give in and keep at it.

Love: Single people will successfully find love this year, possibly in the Philippines or abroad. Start planning your vacation trips now.

Money: Keep track of how you spend your money. Look into that business you’ve been wanting to start. Ask a person you trust for reliable advice.

People born on the Year of the Tiger (1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010)

General outlook: Health should be a key priority this year. An important thing you must do is learn how to manage stress. Not everything has to be done immediately. Sometimes it helps to step back and look at a situation with a more careful eye.

Love: A person may enter our lives whose goal is friendship but will give us overwhelming support in things we do. Don’t mistake this for romantic love.

Money: Money matters may bring about problems and conflicts with friends or family. Do not make hasty decisions about investments and businesses.

People born on the Year of the Rabbit (1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011)

General outlook: Change is not always easy, but it also does not mean the change is for the worse. A lot of positive changes will happen this year, although they might be difficult to accept in the beginning. Stay positive and have faith.

Love: Singles will have a host of opportunities to meet possible partners, so enjoy going out. In a relationship? It’s a good time to take it to the next level.

Money: The Wealth Luck is fantastic this year. Strive in your career or dare to go for that business you’ve been wanting to pursue.

People born on the Year of the Dragon (1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012)

General outlook: You will be successful in tackling challenging situations, including competition. It will be a fulfilling year as you overcome problems big or small, and it may even be life changing.

Love: Relationships will face issues in the forms of gossip and third parties. Work on trust, honesty, and communication. Family opposition may pose a challenge.

Money: Avoid gambling, as you may lose more than you win, and you can’t afford losses. Network with possible business partners and investors.

People born on the Year of the Snake (1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001, 2013)

International feng shui master Marites Allen holds one of the individual Chinese sign forecast books she authored for the Year of the Fire Monkey

General outlook: Situations that may seem hopeless in the beginning will turn into wonderful opportunities; just keep your fighting spirit. When setbacks occur, remember why you are doing it in the first place. Keep on keeping on.

Love: Wedding bells ring for long-term relationships. Newlyweds may also receive baby news.

Money: Creativity and perseverance are your key weapons to getting new opportunities and income. Save or invest your earnings instead of spending it.

People born on the Year of the Horse (1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990, 2002, 2014)

General outlook: Your positivity will keep you on the right track and empower others to be the same. Listen to your conscience and gut, and you will make the right decisions. You’ll always find a way to deal with or fix

a problem.

Love: Don’t sweat the small stuff. Don’t let small issues turn into big matters that will make you hate each other. Stretch your patience and understanding.

Money: Your Wealth Luck is poor, so money problems may come your way more often than you prefer. Stay simple. Save, don’t spend.

People born on the Year of the Sheep (1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015)

General outlook: Lots of opportunities will come your way this year, so be sure to know what you want and grab the one that works with your dreams and goals. There will be competition, but your drive will set you apart.

Love: Don’t be in a hurry to be in a relationship. You will meet lots of interesting people this year, so enjoy going out and getting to know them before you settle.

Money: Long-term investment opportunities will come to you this year. Be prepared to talk business with people you need to work with. Always be calm.

People born on the Year of the Monkey (1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992, 2004, 2016)

General outlook: The “Ta Sui” or god of the year is on your side. Simply put, luck will be on your side. Everything you do has the chance to become successful, so long as you work hard and be good. A great deal will come your way. Be positive.

Love: Work or business will take priority over romance this year, and this can pose a problem to those who have families or are in relationships. Give quality time.

Money: Keep working hard and it will be recognized, although this should not be your key motivation. Focus on doing good for others. Blessings will come.

People born on the Year of the Rooster (1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993, 2005, 2017)

General outlook: Read and understand “The Secret” and practice the power of positivity and attraction, and it will work for you. Things might feel boring or routine, but don’t let this discourage you.

Love: If you’ve been thinking of confessing your feelings to that special someone, do it this year. If you’ve been thinking of proposing to your girl, do it this year, too.

Money: Have you ever felt that money just touched your palm then quickly disappeared? This may happen if you are not frugal or careful about your spending.

People born on the Year of the Dog (1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018)

General outlook: The allies of this sign are the Rooster and Boar. Take care of people who are born under this sign because they will give you support when you need it. Your temper may be shorter than usual, so be self-aware.

Love: Relationships could prove frustrating, so be careful about minor disagreements. Don’t let them escalate into damaging fights. Communicate.

Money: Does something feel too good to be true? It probably is. Don’t be quick to pin your hopes on one opportunity. Shop around. Study the possibilities carefully.

People born on the Year of the Boar (1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019)

General outlook: The stars are auspicious and could bring lots of opportunities your way. Don’t forget to pray and be thankful for them, and even more will open up for you. Negativity may want to bring you down, so arm yourself with motivation.

Love: Possibilities of romance may be rife, but don’t expect them to be long term. A person who does not appreciate your worth has no right to have you.

Money: Income and sources of income will be stable, but take care to be humble about your success. Family disputes may happen. Make sure to always talk things out.

Marites Allen will be touring SM malls from January 17 to February 8. Get your questions ready! For more information, visit maritesallen.com or wealthluck.com.
