Cebu Pacific Air (CEB) is cancelling more than 30 domestic flights beginning today (Saturday) until Monday after aviation authorities limited the number of arrivals at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
Affected flights include Kalibo, Legazpi, Boracay, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Cotabato, Davao, Cebu and Tacloban.
On Sunday, canceled flights include Bohol, Boracay, Cagayan de Oro, Coron, Cebu, Iloilo, Davao, Puerto Princesa and Cauayan while among those suspended on Monday are flights to and from Bohol, Legazpi, Cagayan de Oro, Tacloban, Puerto Princesa, Cebu, Dipolog, and Boracay.
The CEB management stated that it is working closely with the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines and stakeholders “as the aviation industry manages the impact of COVID-19 on its workforce.”
“As the situation remains fluid, additional flight cancellations may take place in the coming days, and so we appeal for your patience and understanding,” it added.
CEB officials said the airline continues to review its manpower levels with employees currently on quarantine.
The airline has assured the public it operates with 100 percent fully vaccinated active flying crew.
“Our pilots and cabin crew undergo regular antigen testing (Test Before Duty) before they are assigned to operate flights. CEB has also started its booster program to ensure the continued safety of its employees and passengers. The safety of our employees and passengers remains to be our priority,” it stated.
Meanwhile, CEB announced that the local government of Negros Occidental has issued an Executive Order limiting the entry of flights to and from National Capital Region while it is on Alert Level 3.
“As such, Cebu Pacific has reduced its flights from 16x weekly between Manila and Bacolod to once daily (7x weekly),” it stated in its latest advisory Friday.
The latest development prompted the airline to suspend some flights scheduled from Jan. 9 to 15.
