President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he wants to be remembered as a leader who helped ordinary Filipinos.
In his latest vlog shortly after launching the Malacañang Heritage Tour that features the current and past presidents, Mr. Marcos was asked about the legacy he wants to leave after his term.
“I have not given that much thought because we still have a lot of work to do. I suppose if we are doing well, that will be my legacy. It is not something I should think about or something I should do so that they will remember me (after my term ends). We do this because we want to help the Filipino people,” he said.
“That will be my legacy — that when I am no longer around (as President), I will be remembered ay someone who really helped ordinary Filipinos,” he added.
The President, who will deliver his second State of the Nation Address next month to mark his first year in office, recalled how his supporters were behind him all the way during the campaign leading to last year’s elections.
He said the memorabilia collection featured at Bahay Ugnayan made him reflect on his journey to the Palace.
“The stories came back to me. You know know how campaigns are — everything moves so quickly that we do not have the time to reflect on things. Now I have that opportunity to look back at the memories — some are funny, some make me cry, some irritate me, and some are heartwarming,” he added.
