The Senate Committee on Public Works is investigating the bus crash in Nueva Ecija.
During the hearing on Tuesday afternoon, committee chairperson Manny Pacquiao stressed the need to build infrastructure along accident-prone areas to minimize mishaps.
“Pwede naman tayong maglagay ng concrete barrier sa mga kagayang daan na pinangyarihan,” he recommended.
Senator JV Ejercito, for his part, noted that lack of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) that should govern the Speed Limiters Act.
“Speed Limiters Act has been passed but there is no IRR until now,” he observed.
33 people were killed when Leomarick Trans bus fell off a 100-foot ravine in Barangay Capintalan, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija on April 18, 2017.
The bus came from Ilagan, Isabela and was heading to Candon, Ilocos Sur when the tragedy occurred.
