The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) on Tuesday enforced a four-day Stop-and-Go Traffic Scheme along Epifanio de los Santos Avenue in Mandaluyong City in connection with the 52nd Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization (SEAMEO).

“The MMDA will implement a stop-and-go traffic scheme along EDSA Shaw Boulevard Northbound until February 10, for the 52nd SEAMEO Council Conference,” the agency stated in its advisory.

The event is being held at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel.

MMDA chief information officer Sharon Gentalian said a total of 685 personnel will be deployed to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in the area.

The SEAMEO is a regional intergovernmental organization established in 1965 among governments of Southeast Asian countries to promote regional cooperation in education, science and culture in the region.

The organization has continued to nurture human capacities and explored the peoples’ fullest potential.

The organization’s highest policy-making body is the SEAMEO Council, which comprises the 11 Southeast Asian education ministers. The Secretariat is located in Bangkok, Thailand.

SEAMEO envisions to become the leading organisation for enhancing understanding and cooperation in education, science, and culture and promoting sustainable human resources for a better quality of life in Southeast Asia and beyond.

It aims to enhance regional understanding, cooperation and development, and unity of purpose  among member countries in education, culture, and science through promoting programme excellence, providing a platform for policy dialogues, and fostering leadership and collaboration with partners and stakeholders.
