We have been encountering posts on dogs, cats, and other animals on Facebook that are eye-openers, or inspiring, or enlightening, or educational, or can make one feel good during a stressful day, or make one encouraged to help the poor souls among us.

Sunday Pets would like to share these notable posts of netizens and groups through this space called Pawsbook.

Maria Cristina Rizea

She was 18. Her people, who loved her whole life, took her, a vaccination booklet, a leash, a collar and her belongings and took her to the Baldwin Park shelter.

They said they were tired of fighting with an older dog, signed papers and left, without even looking at her.

When she was picked up by a volunteer at the shelter, she leaned on him probably wishing it was all just an ugly dream.

The moment was immortalized by photographer John Hwang, who was in the shelter at the time.

Unfortunately, dogs love sincerely, with all their heart, with all their soul and are unable to understand that human ‘love forever’ most often has an expiration date.. – to annual, to moving, to illness, to old age…

Dogs definitely deserve better people

I Hate Dog Breeders

Every rescue dog has a story to tell…

This is Flyn’s story:

“Flyn was bred for hunting, many years he served his master and did everything they wanted him to do. But Flyn never really cared too much about hunting and killing and all that, he loved everything and everybody and wanted affection more than anything. The person who had him took a baseball bat and hit him so hard that his skull broke and he lost his eye and teeth. Somehow he survived and got away, roaming as a stray. He ended up in many shelters, no one ever wanted him, even though he had so much love to give. Then, one day with about 13 years of age already, someone looked into his one eye and fell in love instantly. They both felt something very special was happening and Flyn found his first and last loving forever home that day. He had 3 amazing years before he finally closed his one eye forever.

For that person he was more than just a dog, he was family and he opened a whole new world of understanding and started a passion for rescue! Thank you Flyn! https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/tac/1/16/2665.pngRIP!”

Old and alone, I thought a dog would fill my existence.

I found him in the street, dirty, hungry, I stroked him, he followed me without fear.

Now he’s my dog, I’m his owner.

I talk to him, he answers me by washing my hands.

“Fido tomorrow we won’t have anything to eat, the retreat is over, we’ll have to wait!”.

This blessed day arrives, online, with the other retirees, the booklet broken by time, clutched in my hands, I await my turn. Fido is shaking happily.

He knows that today we are going to eat more and a little better.

It’s already winter. My house is cold without fire. He is close and warms me. The beginning of spring finds us united in giving thanks to the sun, while from my heart, a prayer is born: ‘Thank you Lord for having created the dog.’” Compiled by DC
