Joshua Garcia almost quit showbizIn a recent interview in connection with his upcoming film project Ang Mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan under Regal Entertainment, Joshua Garcia admitted that there were instances in the past when he contemplated on just going home to Batangas because of not getting meaty acting parts.

“That’s true,” he stated. “There came a point before when I considered giving up showbiz. There were lots of projects being offered to me but eventually, they didn’t land onto my lap.”

It’s good that instead of turning back, the competent young actor opted to be positive and improved himself.

“I made it as a motivating factor to hone my craft further. I realized that perhaps, the reason why I wasn’t picked for said projects is that my skills are still not good enough. What I did was to enroll myself in acting workshops sponsored by Star Magic. Looking back now, I’m grateful that I did.

“I also considered my family. I had to persevere because I wanted to help my parents and give them a comfortable life. You see, my older sister is not yet finished with her studies. I would also send my niece to school. Then, my father dreams of opening a bar or a restaurant as a business. I want to make all of these come true for my family!”

Interestingly, despite the fact that he’s busy with his acting career, Joshua hopes he can still go back to school.

“I admit that I still hunger for knowledge. I feel that it’s something that I lack. I had to sacrifice my studies when I entered the ‘biz. Given the chance, I would love to continue it.

“In fact, my early dream was to become a soldier. I told myself that after high school, I would enter the field. But as I’ve said, showbiz knocked at my door. Now, if ever, I don’t know what exact course to get, though my interest already changed. I want something which is related to films.”

At present, he has no steady love team. After his tandem with former girlfriend, Julia Barretto, was dissolved, he got paired with Janella Salvador in the recently-concluded soap “The Killer Bride.” Given this scenario, Joshua seems to be unbothered.

“Actually, in my situation, I guess it’s better if I will not have a resident screen partner at the moment. I can still be in a love team, why not?  But I personally believe it’s better if you get to work with many stars. That way, you will be open to more opportunities and possibilities, right? It’s for your career growth.”

So, he’s ready to get paired with other actresses?

“It is fun and definitely a new experience to collaborate with those whom you haven’t worked with yet. You’ll get to discover lots of interesting things about them. Take the case of Janella for example. When we did The Killer Bride, I learned that she doesn’t complain on the set. So, on my part, I would get hesitant to complain since my leading lady does not. When I was with Julia, she influenced me to speak English during interviews and conversations. It really feels good that I learn from my screen partners,” said Joshua.

After the long and exciting wait, the verdict is out. The country’s bet for the well-renowned international talent search America’s Got Talent Marcelito Pomoy placed fourth during the grand finals held on Feb. 18.

Pomoy, the grand champion of Pilipinas Got Talent (Season 2) way back in 2011 was among ten other grand finalists. Fortunately, he landed in the Top 5.

The dance group V. Unbeatable from Mumbai, India romped off with the top plum while Duo Transcend and Tyler Butler-Figueroa copped the second and third places, respectively. Rounding up the Top 5 was the Sandou Trio Russian Bar.

The other finalists were Silhouettes, Hans, Angelina Jordan, Boogie Storm, and Alexa Lauenburger.

Marcelito’s song piece during the final performance night was the classic Peabo Bryson-Celine Dion ditty “Beauty and the Beast.”
