Actress Dimples Romana, who plays the feisty Daniela Mondragon in the trending television series, Kadenang Ginto, couldn’t believe that the “Daniela the Explore” meme would trend and become a social media craze.
The ubiquitous meme, which features the popular character in a glamorous mini red dress and with a matching suitcase in tow, has explored the farthest corners of the Philippines, including some parts of the world (we’ve yet to see Daniela in outer space).
“I was told that memes and trending topics only last for a day, but our memes have been making rounds for more than a week already,” the ecstatic Dimples told reporters during a recent press conference.
The teleserye that spawned a thousand memes is opening its newest chapter, promising more high-stakes showdowns between the clashing Mondragons.
Expect more heated confrontations between Romina (Beauty Gonzalez) and Daniela, whose lives will soon turn upside down as they meet the new character Leon, played by Richard Yap.
But before their paths cross, Romina will continue to experience Daniela’s wrath, after the latter seized all of the riches Romina inherited from Robert.
However, Romina’s sheer determination will put her back on top as she uses all her experiences to rebuild her empire. Leon (Richard), her new business partner, will guide her every step of the way and help her retrieve everything that was taken from her.
As Romina works her way up, Daniela’s world will slowly crumble as their company goes bankrupt. This will ignite Daniela’s fury against Romina and will do whatever it takes to pin down her rival.
Where will the battle between the two Mondragons lead them? How will Leon create more chaos in their lives?
Since the series started airing in October 2018, Kadenang Ginto has kept viewers glued to their TV screens every afternoon, hitting an all-time high national TV rating of 27.3 percent, according to Kantar Media–a feat for an afternoon series.
The show also helped launched into stardom teen idols Francine Diaz, Kyle Echarri, Seth Fedelin, and Andrea Brillantes, who are now known as The Gold Squad. Their popularity and success have also reached online as their YouTube channel recently received the Silver Creator Award after reaching 100,000 subscribers. The channel currently has more than 500,000 subscribers.
