The Tabloids Organization in Philippine Sports (TOPS) welcomes the month of July with wide-ranging discussions in basketball, memory games and shooting for the 29th “Usapang Sports” today (July 4) at the National Press Club in Intramuros.

The SOCCSKSARGEN Marlins, the 31st team in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL), will talk about their chances in the Lakan Cup of the fast-growing league organized by Sen. Manny Pacquiao.

The Armor on Philippines-supported Marlins will be led by team owner Kevin Espinosa, manager Norm Conti and coach Biboy Simon.

The coming Ballout Hoops Challenge of founder Cris Bautista, commissioner LA Tenorio and deputy commissioners Bambi Sevilla and Alvin Bartolome will also be discussed during the 10 a.m. forum sponsored by Philippine Sports Commission, National Press Club, PAGCOR, Community Basketball Association and HG Guyabano Tea Leaf Drinks.

Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers of the Philippines, Inc. (AFAD) president Alaric Topacio and board member Edwin Año will talk about plans to support multiple shooting events and its own competition named the AFAD Cup.

Also on the table is the coming 6th Philippine international Open Memory Championship scheduled July 13 and 14 at the Icon Hotel North EDSA.

Leading the memory team are Enzo Gabriel Castillon, the newest Filipino Grandmaster of Memory; Jan Jelo Juanir, the country’s top Junior Memory athlete and Little Big Shots PH “Memory Kid”; Chloe Andrea Galamgam, the reigning Philippine Kids Memory champion; and Anne Bernadette Bonita, president of the Philippine Mind Sports Association Inc. and head coach of Philippine Memory team.

TOPS president Ed Andaya of People’s Tonight is inviting all officers and members of TOPS, as well as friends in the sports community to attend the session shown on Facebook live via Glitter Livestream of actor-director Carlo Maceda.

TOPS is composed of editors, reporters, columnists and photographers of the country’s leading national tabloids.

Digital Edition

In tone and content, the online edition mirrors the editorial thrust of the newspaper. While hewing to the traditional precepts of fairness and objectivity, MS believes the news of the day need not be staid, overly long or dry.
