Whether or not your kids had a blast enjoying their summer vacation, it’s now time to gear up for the hustle and bustle of school days. Summertime is over and saying goodbye to that is not likely to be easy, but once your kids get back into the routine of going to school everyday, you’ll have an easier time worrying about what to do with all that idle time on their hands.
Here are few suggestions for when school gets into full swing.
Bedtime battle – Mind this one. Everyone should get enough sleep for to maintain concentration and energy levels during the day. Make sure they are getting enough rest to confidently face the school days – considering that bedtime can be tough to enforce, but keeping a few things consistent can make it easier. After dinner, give them a fresh half-bath to wind down. Then, reward them with a snack as well as a glass of milk. You may read to them but only for a short while, and engage in some chitchat. When you’re done and you still don’t see them yawning, turn off the lights (no excuses) and give them a good night kiss. The ideal bedtime is between 7 and 8 p.m.
Eating schedule – do not let your child skip dinner time, take the chance to make it a family-bonding experience. Set a certain time and keep it. It’s a wonderful way for the family members to be together and talk about happenings in their everyday and personal lives – establish a strong connection with your children so they can be vocal once they’re getting into troubles in school.
Less playtime – your kids probably spent summer playing under the sun the whole day. If so, set aside the week before school opens to cut back on playing time. It will help them adjust to the coming days when they need to do homework first before playing.
These are just a few things you need to get your kid (as well as yourself) into “school mode.”
