Huawei is showcasing its products and solutions during the February 28 to March 3 MWC22 Barcelona, which also unveiled the lush opportunities now available within the ICT industry.

Visitors check tech giant Huawei’s P50 Pocket foldable smartphone, in the MWC (Mobile World Congress) in Barcelona as one of the technology industry’s biggest annual get-togethers kicked off in the Spanish city of Barcelona. The Mobile World Congress, where smartphone and telecoms companies show off their latest products and reveal their strategic visions, is expected to welcome more than 40,000 guests over its four-day run.

Over the past years, network evolution has been a process of introducing the latest IT practices to CT, ranging from IP, to cloud, and then to AI today.

As the company with the most complete suite of ICT capabilities in the digital industry, Huawei showed its confidence in gaining a head start in the evolution towards future AI-native networks.

The Philippines, no doubt, is a growing market with huge space, according to the research conducted by AlphaBeta, a Singapore-based strategic economic consultancy.

The Philippines’ digital economy can create up to P5 trillion through digital transformation by 2030, which is equivalent to 27% of the country’s GDP in 2020 alone.

According to the DICT website, the report states that the majority of the total estimated digital opportunity can be generated by technology-led business, which is valued up to P3.5 trillion. This includes e-commerce and mobile applications for the retail industry, which can facilitate digital transactions and interactions, reduce labor requirements, promote inventory efficiencies, and cut real estate costs, offering productivity gains ranging from 6 to 15 percent.

The report also shows three areas of action required for the Philippines to fully capture its digital opportunity: enhancement of digital skills training and education; acceleration of digital adoption and innovation, and promotion of digital trade opportunities.

In line with this, the Intelligent World 2030 report, which Huawei released last September, provided insights into ICT technology and application trends in the next decade, explaining how ICT technologies can solve critical problems and challenges of human development, and what new opportunities can be brought to organizations and individuals.

In the report, Huawei predicts that by 2030, global connections will reach 200 billion; and data generated annually will increase 23 times, reaching one yottabyte for the first time.

Jay Chen, the Vice President of Huawei Asia Pacific, shared his view about the Philippine market during the interview, saying the digital transformation in the Philippines is not slowing down even though it is still facing the pandemic.

But the country still has great potential in digitalization and digital transformation development needs more stable, affordable and more competitive products and solutions, with Huawei continuing to provide leading technologies to meet customers’ requirements in different industries in the Philippines.

Huawei solutions have been deployed in more than 700 cities and are used by over 2,000 financial institutions globally, experiences that can be shared, and showing how Huawei can enable enterprises in the Philippines to transition from traditional ways of doing business and leveraging innovative ICT solutions to stay ahead and create new value.

Huawei is supporting operators’ green development strategy. With its full range of green solutions, including green site, green network, and green operation, Huawei said it aims to help operators increase network capacity and cut the energy consumption per bit, achieving “More Bits, Less Watts”.

Huawei came in second on the 2021 EU Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard.

Huawei is also investing even more into optimizing system architecture and doubling software performance. By overcoming technique and technological challenges, Huawei hopes to build a highly reliable and trustworthy supply chain.

Huawei said it is currently reshaping three areas: fundamental theories, architecture, and software. This will support long-term, sustainable development of the ICT industry.

Huawei added it works with operators and partners around the world to create simplified, green, and intelligent ICT infrastructure, allowing operators to deploy leading 5G networks.

Third-party test results show that 5G networks delivered by Huawei for customers in 13 countries, including Switzerland, Germany, Finland, the Netherlands, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia, all provide an optimal experience.

The company has already signed more than 3,000 contracts for industrial 5G applications, where they collaborate with operators and partners from various industries, gaining a wealth of experience in industry applications. Huawei said it wants to help operators tap into more new opportunities from industry digitalization by delivering innovative XtoB solutions that integrate 5G, premium private lines, intelligent cloud networks, data centers, and cloud.

In the Philippines, Huawei has increasingly devoted in sustainable green solutions, leveraging clean power generation, electric transportation, and smart energy storage.

Besides the experience of industry applications, Huawei has also run several programs to bridge the gap by cultivating the ICT talents.
Over the next 5 years, Huawei has committed another $50 million to develop 500K ICT professionals in Asia Pacific.

Daniel Guo, the COO and Vice President of Huawei Philippines said that as of the end of 2021, the Huawei ICT Academy program has covered more than 50 universities and more than 9600 Philippine students.

The program is an enablement to the society, to train the students to get the latest technology and bring them to the ICT industry.

“Seeds for the Future”, another Huawei flagship global corporate social responsibility program, has been held consecutively for seven years in the Philippines, with more than 200 Filipinos benefitting from the program and are now making contributions to the ICT industry for the country.
